The event—titled The Sondheimas Mixtape
this year—honors the composer by presenting new takes of his some of his beloved classics and more obscure numbers. The 2017 edition (two days shy of his 87th birthday) also included a Sondheim "Love Medley" (not to be confused with the love medley from another composer
with a March 22 birthday) performed by Ashley Blanchet, Ariana DeBose, and Meagan Michelson, and a mashup of Fun Home
and Into the Woods
arranged by Steven Cuevas and performed by cabaret favorite Amy Jo Jackson.
Sondheimas is produced and officiated by Maggie Larkin and David Levy.
