The Friends of New York Theatre has announced nominees for the 1995-96 FANY Awards. FNY describes its awards as People's Choice Award for the Broadway theatre.
Winners will be announced at the 3rd Annual FANY Awards June 9 at the Westbeth Theatre Center Music Hall, in New York City.
Scheduled presenters include Kelly Bishop, Donna McKechnie, Karen Ziemba, Jane Connell, Victoria Clark, B.J. Crosby, Rob Marshall, Justin Kirk, Michelle O'Neill, Karen Kay Cody and Teri White.

The June 9 awards ceremony will begin at 7 PM with hot and cold hors d'oeuvres and a cash bar. A silent auction of autographed window cards will be held until 8:15 PM with benefits to proceed The American Theatre Wing's "Working in the Theatre" Seminar Program, this year's FANY winner for Outstanding Community Service.
The ceremony will be hosted by comic performer/writer, Bobby Rivers and will begin at 8:30 pm. Some of this year's scheduled presenters are choreographer, Rob Marshall (Company, Forum and Victor/Victoria), Karen Kay Cody (Master Class) and previous FANY Nominees and Winners: Judy Kuhn, She Loves Me, Victoria Clark (How to Succeed . . .), B.J. Crosby (Smokey Joe's Cafe), Justin Kirk (Love! Valour! Compassion!) and Michelle O'Neill (The Heiress).

An eight-member panel chose nominees from among Broadway shows which had official openings between May 1, 1995 and April 30, 1996.
Founded in 1990, The Friends of New York Theatre was born from a desire to acknowledge and celebrate outstanding achievement in the Broadway theatre from the perspective of the ticket-buying public. Winners are chosen by the membership, which is open to all, and will be awarded medallions especially designed for the Friends of New York Theatre.
