Julianna Margulies, now performing in Jon Robin Baitz's Ten Unknowns at Lincoln Center Theater; Rosie Perez, due in Jose Rivera's References to Salvador Dali Make Me Hot at the Public this spring; and Glenn Close, who has netted her share of Tony Awards, will be among the dozens of stars joining The Vagina Monologues author Eve Ensler at "V-Day," an annual event set to happen on Feb. 10 at Madison Square Garden in NYC.

"V-Day" is a movement founded in 1998. Proceed benefit programs to end violence toward women and girls. The day will feature a benefit performance of Ensler's The Vagina Monologues, with "music and dance...performed live by over 70 amazing women."

Among those women will be Oprah Winfrey, Calista Flockhart, Kathleen Chalfant, Teri Garr, LisaGay Hamilton, Andrea Martin, Winona Ryder Shirley Knight, Brooke Shields, Carol Kane, Lily Tomlin, Cynthia Nixon, Erica Jong, Claire Danes, Gina Gershon, Mary Testa and Lois Smith. Many of the featured actresses have appeared in The Vagina Monologues either Off-Broadway or in Los Angeles or both.

Ensler's play has proved a durable hit at the Westside Theatre in Manhattan, where it opened Oct. 3, 1999. Ensler performed the piece at first, before handing the controls over to rotating trios of actresses, who work stints of a few weeks each.
