"We have been waiting for three years for the rights to present Fiddler and are thrilled to share it with our Barrington Stage audiences," Boyd said in a statement. "Following the tremendous success of this season's opener, Guys and Dolls, we wanted to announce Fiddler so audiences already here in the Berkshires can take advantage of getting their subscriptions now."

Fiddler (known for "Matchmaker, Matchmaker," "To Life," "Sunrise, Sunset" and "Tradition" and more) borrows stories and characters of Sholom Aleichem to tell the tale of changing traditions in a Russian-Jewish town before the Revolution.

The resident Equity company will launch the 2012 season with the classic by Jerry Bock (music), Sheldon Harnick (lyrics) and Joseph Stein (book). It will play June 13-July 14, 2012.

BSC's mainstage is currently presenting The Game, a musical version of "Les Liaisons Dangereuses."
