News Final West End Cast for Grease to Feature Carina Gillespie As the long-running West End production of Grease enters its final stand at the Piccadilly Theatre, Matthew Goodgame (who is currently playing Danny) will be newly joined by West End newcomer Carina Gillespie, who replaces Lauren Samuels as Sandy, beginning performances Jan. 24. The production is running through April 30, prior to resuming another U.K. national tour at Edinburgh's Playhouse, beginning May 6.

The new class of Rydell High 2011, also enrolling from Jan. 24, also includes David O'Reilly (Roger), Michael Pickering (Doody), Zoe Doano (Frenchy), Matthew Russell-Jones (Eugene), Nancy Hill (Miss Lynch) and Kristina MacMillan (Cha Cha), with other parts played by the ensemble. Other cast members who will continue in their roles include Jamie Capewell (Kenickie), Siubhan Harrison (Rizzo), Bennett Andrews (Sonny), Robyn Mellor (Marty), Susannah Allman (Patty) and Jason Capewell (Teen Angel/Vince Fontaine). Kerry Winter remains with the show, taking over the role of Jan.

Gillespie trained at the Liverpool Theatre School and made her professional stage debut as Maria Elena in the U.K. and Scandinavian tours of Buddy - The Buddy Holly Story. Other credits include Tony McHale's Bloodbath – the Musical (Edinburgh Fringe) and Jack and the Beanstalk (Regents Theatre, Ipswich).

In a press statement, producer David Ian has commented, "This has been the fourth London run in 17 years for this amazing production and the longest ever running show at The Piccadilly Theatre. Now we're taking everyone's favorite show right across the U.K."
