News Following Runs in U.K. and Belgium, Award-Winning The Good and The True Will Play Off-Broadway's DR2 Theatre The award-winning Czech drama The Good and The True, which has played tours in the United Kingdom and Belgium, will make its American premiere at Off-Broadway's DR2 Theatre beginning July 24.

Co-starring Isobel Pravda and Saul Reichlin, the production will officially open August 3.

The Good and The True is written by Daniel Hrbek, Tomas Hrbek and Lucie Kolouchova with an English adaptation by Brian Daniels. It is helmed by award-winning Czech director Daniel Hrbek.

The play, according to press notes, "intertwines the true testimonies of two extraordinary people -- Czech athlete Milos Dobry and actress Hana Pravda. They both spent their working lives building suspense, knocking crowds into submission and drawing gasps and acclaim from spectators -- but this pales in significance compared to their earlier lives enduring the indignities of incarceration and survival at the hands of occupied Czechoslovakia in the 1930s.… [The play] chronicles the experiences of these two remarkable people -- both of whom were true survivors in every sense of the word. Did they possess exceptional qualities, or was their survival just good luck?"

Isobel Pravda is the real granddaughter of survivor Hana Pravda; she played her grandmother for the first time on stage last year in the U.K. Saul Reichlin is an award-winning actor whose one-man play Sholom Aleichem: Now You're Talking! has been performed in the West End, in New York and in several countries throughout Europe.

The production features scenic design and costume design by Daniel Hrbek, lighting design by Karel Simek and sound design by Martin Hejl. The American premiere of The Good and The True is produced by Svandovo Divadlo, Prague; and the New End Theatre, London with Brian Daniels.

Performances will continue through Sept. 14.

Off-Broadway's DR2 Theatre is located at 103 East 15th Street. Regular tickets are $65 each, and premium seats are $75 each. Tickets are now available by visiting Telecharge.com or by calling (212) 239-6200.
