News Freckleface the Musical Will End Off-Broadway Run in July Freckleface the Musical, based on Julianne Moore's popular children's book, "Freckleface Strawberry," will play its final performance at the Manhattan Movement & Arts Center July 1.

The musical originally opened Oct. 1, 2010, at New World Stages, where it ran through April 24, 2011. The production reopened Nov. 8 at MMAC Theatre.

Freckleface the Musical has music and lyrics by Garry Kupper and book by Kupper and Rose Caiola. It was conceived for the stage by Caiola.

The current cast includes Francesca McGrory as Strawberry along with William Bailey, Sarah Haines, Matthew Hooper, Bridget Riley, Ashley Tobias and Wesley Tunison. The show is directed by Buddy Crutchfield with choreography by Gail Pennington Crutchfield.

Plans, according to a press statement, are underway for a national tour as well as a production in Asia.

"Touching on important messages including bullying," the family-friendly musical, press notes state, "chronicles the life of a young girl, Strawberry being teased by her schoolmates for having bright red hair and freckles." Remaining performances are scheduled for Saturdays and Sundays at 1 PM and 3 PM at MMAC (Manhattan Movement & Arts Center), 248 West 60th Street.
