International News Fred Johanson and More to Join West End’s Aladdin The Disney musical continues at London's Prince Edward Theatre.

As Aladdin prepares to celebrate its second anniversary in the West End, the Disney musical will welcome several new cast members to the Prince Edward Theatre beginning June 4.

Fred Johanson (Sunset Boulevard, Jesus Christ Superstar) will join the company as Jafar, and Julian Capolei will make his West End debut in the role of Omar. Original cast member Jermaine Woods (Bugsy Malone, The Lion King) will play Iago, having previously covered the role.

Matthew Croke will continue to star in the title role, having joined the company in June 2017, opposite original London cast members Jade Ewen as Jasmine and Trevor Dion Nicholas as the Genie. Leon Craig and Daniel de Bourg will also remain in the company playing Babkak and Kassim, respectively, along with original cast member Irvine Iqbal, who continues in the role of the Sultan.

The full 2018–2019 cast will also include Koko Basigara, Robertina Bonano, Danny Becker, Angeline Bell, Bianca Cordice, Abigail Climer, Leon Craig, Daniel de Bourg, Nolan Edwards, Melanie Elizabeth, Nordine Ezzahr, Antony Hewitt, Irvine Iqbal, Blythe Jandoo, Abigail Johnson, Travis Kerry, Dann Kharsa, Victoria Layzell, Mitch Leow, Oliver Lidert, Phil Mennell, Richard Murphy, Ian Oswald, Tarisha Rommick, Kyle Seeley, Dominic Sibanda, Ricardo Spriggs, Joshua Steel, Kevin Stephen-Jones, Kayleigh Thandani, Justin Thomas, Damien Winchester, and Niko Wirachman.

Aladdin opened at the Prince Edward Theatre June 15, 2016.

The stage production, which expands the 90-minute film into a two-act format, features music by Alan Menken, lyrics by Howard Ashman and Tim Rice, and a book and additional lyrics by Chad Beguelin. Casey Nicholaw directs and choreographs.
