Friends! The Musical Parody, the unauthorized parody of the hit TV show, will play its final performance July 22 at 2 PM at St. Luke’s Theatre (308 West 46th Street).
The production, originally announced as a limited engagement, began previews October 13, 2017, prior to an official opening December 31; it was scheduled to run on extension through September 2. Upon closing, the musical will have played 17 previews and 213 regular performances.
“It’s been a great ride with an amazing group of actors, band members, and crew,” says producer Lynn Shore. “Thank you to all the Friends fans who came out and helped make this show a success. 220 performances is no small feat and we couldn’t be any prouder of what we’ve created and accomplished.”
Shore added that a national tour is in the works, eyeing a fall launch.
Created by Bob and Tobly McSmith, Friends! features direction by Paul Stancato and music by Assaf Gleizner. The cast includes Seth Blum as Chandler, Lisa Graye as Monica, Katie Johantgen as Phoebe, Patricia Sabulis as Rachel, Alan Trinca as Joey, and Landon Zwick as Ross. Sammi Griffith and Chris Collins-Pisano are the female and male understudies.
