News Gallery Players Production of Dreamgirls, With Charnette Batey, Tunisia Renee and Aisha Curtiss, Begins April 27 The Gallery Players, Brooklyn's award-winning Off Off-Broadway theatre, continues its 46th season with Tom Eyen and Henry Krieger's Dreamgirls beginning April 27.

Mark Harboth directs the limited engagement, which stars Charnette Batey as Deena, Tunisia Renee as Effie, Aisha Curtiss as Lorrell and Inuka Ivaska as Michelle. Performances continue through May 19.

Rounding out the cast are Kolton Bradley as Curtis Taylor Jr., Charles Browning as CC White and Caliaf St. Aubyn as James "Thunder" Early with Timara Pilar Allen, Jennifer Ambler, Troy Anthony Burton, Frank Holmes, Donald R. King, Derrick Bryant Marshall, Peter McIntosh, Kendra Moore, Janelle Neal, Ilene Pabon, Alex Pagels and Michael Terry.

Winner of six Tony Awards, Dreamgirls first appeared on Broadway in 1981. The Gallery Players bill the musical as "a sweeping portrait of the American music business, during a great time of change. Dreamgirls follows the rise of a Motown singing group, The Dreams, and the triumphs and tribulations that come withtheir fame and fortune."

The creative team also includes choreographer Elyse Daye Hart, music director Ryan Touhey, scenic designer Harlan Penn, costume designer Joey Hawes, lighting designer Scott Borowka, sound designer Jacob Subotnick, properties designer Sara Slagle, hair and makeup designer Katy Lynn Patterson and production stage manager Becky J. Doster.
