Variety reports that the William Morris agency has signed the famed brother songwriting team. Jack Tantleff, who closed the deal, told the industry paper, "We've been talking to the families for six months. To my knowledge, the Gershwin estate has never had any agency representation." The William Morris Agency hopes to create shows similar to Crazy for You and My One and Only, which featured new books that employed the songs of the Gershwins. Tantleff added, "We intend to be proactive. We will come up with ideas that are not necessarily the obvious ones. We are thinking out of the box."

George and Ira Gershwin's Broadway credits include Lady Be Good!, Tip-Toes, Oh Kay!, Strike Up the Band, Funny Face, Girl Crazy and Of Thee I Sing. Their songbook boasts such tunes as "Fascinating Rhythm," "The Man I Love," "Someone to Watch Over Me," "But Not for Me" and "They Can't Take That Away from Me."
