Jan. 23 has been chosen as the "Pay What You Can" Date by the Mark Taper Forum for its production of Glimmer, Glimmer and Shine. The jazz play by Warren Leight opens on Jan. 25 and runs through March 4.

A limited number of "Pay What You Can" tickets will go on sale at noon on the day of the performance and must be purchased in person at the Center Theatre Group box office for that evening's performance on a cash-only basis. There is a two-to-a-person limit.

Leight, who won a 1999 Tony Award for Side Man, returns to the world of jazz for his new play, which will have its West Coast premiere at the Taper. Glimmer tells the story of twin brothers who joined with Eddie Shine in a hot band of the 1950s. Eventually torn apart by the very music and hard-living lifestyle that once united them, they became estranged for forty years. The brothers' journey toward reconciliation is chronicled in a succession of short, pungent scenes resembling jazz riffs.

Mark Taper Forum is located at 135 N. Grand Ave. For tickets and information call (213) 628- 2772. The deaf community should call (TDD) (213) 680-4017 or visit www.Taper Ahmanson.com
