The 74th annual Theatre World Awards, hosted by Peter Filichia, were held June 4 at the Circle in the Square. As the theatre is currently home to the Tony-nominated Broadway revival of Once On This Island, the Awards requested attire for the 2 PM event be “festive island” wear.
This year, the Theatre World Awards honored Victor Garber, who currently stars as Horace Vandergelder in Hello, Dolly!, with the John Willis Award for Lifetime Achievement in the Theatre. Garber earned a Theatre World himself in 1973 for an Off-Broadway revival of Ibsen’s Ghosts.
The production will include Bernstein’s incidental music for Lillian Hellman’s adaptation of The Lark, and Menotti’s The Unicorn, The Gorgon, and The Manticore.
