News Greig's Caligula Begins Off-Broadway Run Dec. 4 The New York premiere of David Greig's adaptation of Caligula begins a limited Off-Broadway run Dec. 4 at the Kirk Theatre.

Horizon Theatre Rep presents Scottish playwright Greig's adaptation of Albert Camus' original work. Opening night is Dec. 7, and performances will continue through Dec. 30.

Rafael De Mussa directs a cast including Gustav Bodor, Jeff Campanella, Rafael De Mussa, Ben Gougeon, Israel Gutierrez, Quester D. Hannah, Tabetha Lorina-Baker, Romy Nordlinger, Chris Triana, Jordan Turchin, Miles Warner and Brandon Wood.

Set in an unspecified 20th-century country, Greig's Caligula "is given absolute freedom to challenge social convention in pursuit of personal obsession. Following the death of his beloved sister, Emperor Caligula deserts his people and honored position for three days and three nights. He returns with a single objective: to understand the meaning of life," press notes state.

Caligula features set design by Peter R. Feuchtwanger, costume design by Jennifer Nweke, lighting design by Jeff Croiter, fight direction by Rick Sordelet and sound design by Michael J. Whalen.
