The event, titled "Birgit Nilsson: A Force of Nature," will include spoken tributes and film clips of Nilsson in performance.
Nilsson, who sang at the Met from 1959 to 1983, died on December 25, 2005, in her hometown in southern Sweden. She was 87. She sang 222 performances of 16 roles at the Met, winning acclaim for her interpretations of Wagner's Isolde and Br‹nnhilde, Puccini's Turandot, and Strauss's Elektra.
