Two-time Tony nominee Joshua Henry announced via Instagram that he and his wife Cathryn Henry are expecting their first child in March 2018.
The couple met at the University of Miami, where Henry studied theatre, and wed in October 2012. Cathryn Henry is a labor and delivery nurse.
Henry is currently finishing up his stint with the national touring company of Hamilton as Aaron Burr. He originated the role in the sit-down Chicago production of the Tony- and Pulitzer Prize-winning musical by Lin-Manuel Miranda. This spring, Henry will return to Broadway opposite Tony winner Jessie Mueller in the anticipated revival of Carousel as Billy Bigelow.
Henry made his Broadway debut as a replacement in the ensemble of In the Heights. He originated the role of Haywood Patterson in The Scottsboro Boys on Broadway; and though the show closed prematurely in the fall of 2010, he was nominated for a 2011 Tony Award. He went on to join the cast of American Idiot and played Jake in the Tony-winning revival of Porgy and Bess, starring Audra McDonald and Norm Lewis. He collaborated again with Miranda, appearing in Bring It On: The Musical, and then starred opposite Sutton Foster as Flick in Violet and earned his second Tony nomination. In 2016, he originated the role of Noble Sissle in Shuffle Along, Or the Making of the Musical Sensation of 1921 And All That Followed and in the fall he played Jamie opposite Cynthia Erivo in the one-night-only concert of Jason Robert Brown’s The Last Five Years.
