News   Helen Hayes Forever Stamp Will Debut at Helen Hayes Awards Ceremony
The Helen Hayes Awards has announced that the United States Postal Service commemorative “Forever” stamp, honoring the First Lady of the American Theatre, Helen Hayes, will officially debut at the 2011 awards ceremony on April 25 at the Warner Theatre.

Joseph Corbett, USPS chief financial officer and vice president, will present the stamp, which will also be available for sale to the general public from 3-5 PM April 25 at the JW Marriott from USPS staff, as well as at the awards ceremony. Cancellation envelopes desired by collectors will also be available for sale. "From this day forward, this wonderful image of Miss Hayes will travel quickly, easily, and affordably on letters and packages throughout the country, and at the same time, will serve as a lasting tribute to a great American actress whose career in theatre, film, television, recording and publishing spanned all ten decades of the twentieth century,” said Corbett in a statement.

Hayes is one of 12 artists to receive all four entertainment awards: a Tony Award, Emmy, Grammy and Oscar. Hayes took home the Tony Award in 1947 for her performance in Happy Birthday and again in 1958 for her performance in Time Remembered. She has also appeared onstage in Harvey, To the Ladies, What Every Woman Knows, Mary of Scotland and Victoria Regina, among others.

The Helen Hayes Awards annually honors excellence in professional theatre throughout the Washington metropolitan area. For more information and tickets, call (202) 337-4572 or visit www.helenhayes.org.
