News Hello Newman! "Seinfeld" Star Wayne Knight to Join Broadway's Sweet Charity Wayne Knight, Jerry Seinfeld's mail-carrying nemesis on the hit TV sitcom "Seinfeld," will return to the Broadway stage Sept. 20.

From Sept. 20-Oct. 16, Knight will assume the role of Herman in the revival of Sweet Charity at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre. Knight replaces Rob Bartlett, who will play his final performance Sept. 18. Bartlett is departing the Neil Simon-Cy Coleman-Dorothy Fields musical to begin rehearsals for the upcoming revival of Simon's The Odd Couple. (Bartlett took over for Ernie Sabella, who created the role in this new production.)

On Broadway Wayne Knight has been seen in Gemini, Mastergate and ART. His numerous screen credits include "Third Rock from the Sun," "Seinfeld," "Jurassic Park," "JFK," "Basic Instinct," "To Die For," "Dirty Dancing," "Tarzan" and "Toy Story 2."

Sweet Charity currently stars Christina Applegate in the title role with Denis O'Hare as Oscar, Janine LaManna as Nickie, Kyra Da Costa as Helene and Paul Schoeffler as Vittorio.

The creative team for Sweet Charity comprises Walter Bobbie (director), Wayne Cilento (choreographer), Scott Pask (set designer), William Ivey Long (costume design), Brian MacDevitt (lighting designer), Peter Hylenski (sound designer), Don York (music director) and Don Sebesky (orchestrator).

DRG Records preserved the score of Broadway's new Sweet Charity on a cast album May 9. The disc was released in stores June 24. The Al Hirschfeld Theatre is located at 302 West 45th Street.
