Two hot Canadian shows are touring the country.
Theresa Tova's Still The Night, which picked up four Dora Awards recently, is playing at Alberta Theatre Projects to Nov. 8, while High Life kicks off Jan. 13 at Calgary's One Yellow Rabbit.
Still The Night, a Tapestry Music Theatre production, is Teresa Tova's small-scale musical about two young Jewish cousins hiding from the Nazis in Poland. High Life, a comedy by first-time playwright Lee MacDougall, is a Crow's Theatre production about a bunch of down-and-out druggies who blow the perfect crime.
The cast of High Life is star-studded, featuring Tony award-winning Brent Carver, Dora nominees Randy Hughson and Steve Cumyn, and Jason Cadieux, star of the new television series Deepwater Black.
High Life will move to the Manitoba Theatre Centre Warehouse from January 21 to February 7, follwed by Victoria's Belfry Theatre (March 17 to 28), Montreal's Centaur (March 29 to April 26) and Ottawa's National Arts Centre (May 11 to 30). Still The Night features Toronto Yiddish Diva Tova and Liza Balkan as the cousins in this two-hander. Further tour dates are not yet confirmed.
