News Hinton Battle to Choreograph Jennifer Hudson Concert Tony Award winner Hinton Battle will choreograph and supply musical staging for his "Dreamgirls" co-star Jennifer Hudson's solo New York debut at the Hammerstein Ballroom on Dec. 30 at 10 PM.

Titled One Night Only: Dreamgirls, the concert will include nine songs from the film in addition to songs from Hudson's appearances on "American Idol," on which she was a finalist. The concert will be followed by a dance party with DJ Junior Vasquez featuring remixes from the "Dreamgirls" soundtrack.

Battle, who plays the supporting role of Wayne in "Dreamgirls," has received three Tony Awards as a performer, for Sophisticated Ladies, Miss Saigon and The Tap Dance Kid. Recently, Battle served as co-director and choreographer for Evil Dead: The Musical, currently running Off-Broadway. He choreographed the movie musical "Idlewild," which starred the group Outkast.

Hudson plays Effie in "Dreamgirls," which opened nationwide Dec. 25. The film, based on the 1981 Broadway musical about the rise of a singing female trio, received five Golden Globe nominations, including Best Performance By an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture for Hudson. Hudson has also been honored by numerous critics groups.

Directed by Bill Condon, "Dreamgirls" also stars Beyoncé Knowles as Deena Jones, Anika Noni Rose as Lorrell Robinson, Jamie Fox as Curtis Taylor Jr., Eddie Murphy as James "Thunder" Early and Danny Glover as Marty. Director Bill Condon also wrote the film's screenplay based on the late Tom Eyen's book. The film employs most of the original score by Eyen and Henry Krieger as well as four new tunes.
