News Hirsch, Procaccino and Wright Aim Below the Belt, Starting May 22 in Seattle Richard Dresser's corporate comedy Below the Belt, starring Two-time Tony Award winner Judd Hirsch, begins performances at A Contemporary Theatre in Seattle May 22.

The Seattle engagement marks a return to the property for Hirsch, who also appeared in the 1996 Off-Broadway production of Below the Belt. Pam MacKinnon stages the production, which officially opens May 28 and runs through June 21.

Joining Hirsch for the ACT production are Seattle veteran actors John Procaccino (All the King's Men, Art) and R. Hamilton Wright (Intimate Exchanges, Becky's New Car).

ACT notes for Below the Belt read: "Somewhere, in an anonymous factory cranking out units of some unnamed product, three men try to maintain some semblance of humanity and self, despite a crushingly conformist and hyper-masculine bureaucracy. Cross the sitcom 'The Office' with Samuel Beckett, and the results might look like something like this — darkly funny, and disconcertingly familiar."

Below the Belt has set design by Matthew Smucker, costume design by Deb Trout, lighting design by Rick Paulsen and sound design by Brendan Patrick Hogan.

Hirsch's extensive stage credits include his Tony-winning performances in Conversations with My Father and I'm Not Rappaport, as well as Sixteen Wounded, Art, A Thousand Clowns, Talley's Folly, Chapter Two, Knock Knock, The Hot l Baltimore and Barefoot in the Park. He is well known for his screen roles in "Taxi," "Dear John," "Ordinary People" and "Numb3rs." For tickets, phone (206) 292-7676 or visit ACT. ACT is located at 700 Union Street in Seattle, WA.
