News Human Race to Stage Red, God of Carnage and Caroline, or Change Dayton, OH's Human Race Theatre Company has announced its 25th anniversary season, which will include the Jeanine Tesori-Tony Kushner musical Caroline, or Change, as well as the Tony Award-winning drama Red.

The Human Race recently appointed executive director Kevin Moore as its producing artistic director following the death of longtime artistic director Marsha Hanna in January. Moore's new position essentially combines both roles. General manager Tara Lai will join Moore as managing director.

The season will launch with Yasmina Reza's Tony Award-winning comedy God of Carnage Sept. 8-25. Things get out of hand in the acclaimed drama when two sets of parents attempt to resolve a playground dispute between their boys.

Caroline, or Change, the ambitious Tony Award-nominated musical by Tesori (Violet, Shrek) and Kushner (Angels in America), will run Nov. 3-20. The Louisiana-set musical takes place in 1963 in the aftermath of JFK's assassination as an African-American maid and an eight-year-old boy forge a tense and unlikely friendship.

John Logan's drama Red, which centers on abstract painter Mark Rothko and his protégé, will run Jan. 19-Feb. 5, 2012. The play took six Tony Awards including Best Play.

August Wilson's penultimate work, Gem of the Ocean, will be presented March 28-April 15, 2012. The 1904-set play centers on Aunt Ester, who first came to America 285 years before on a slave ship. The musical Band Geeks!, billed as "Glee" with instruments, will run May 31-June 17, 2012. The musical has a book by Tommy Newman and Gordon Greenberg; lyrics by Gaby Alter and Newman; and music by Alter, Newman and Mark Allen.
