Helmed by ASF producing artistic director Geoffrey Sherman, the work will play through May 18 and star Ian Bedford in the title role with Avenue Q's Jennifer Barnhart as Lady Macbeth.

According to ASF, "When three witches prophesize that war hero Macbeth is destined to be king, he becomes obsessed with the possibility of achieving unrivaled power. Encouraged by his equally ambitious and ruthless wife, Macbeth uses all means at his disposal, including murder, to make his way to the top and stay there."

The cast also includes Jordan Barbour (Malcolm), Brik Berkes (Lennox), James Bowen (Duncan), Seth Andrew Bridges (Donaldbain, Y. Siward), Rodney Clark (Ross), Michelle Geisler (Gentlewoman), Logan James Hall (Angus), Paul Hebron (Banquo, Doctor), Greta Lambert (Witch), Tom Lawson (Old Man), Anthony Marble (Macduff), Jason Martin (Second Murderer, Siward), Chris Pappas (Third Murderer, Caithness), Kurt Rhoads (Sergeant, Porter), Crispin South (Young Macduff), Jim Staudt (First Murderer, Menteith, David Umansky (Seyton, Fleance, Messenger), Cheri Lynne Vanderheeuvel (Witch, Lady Macduff) and Jillian Walker (Witch).

In the contemporary take, scenic designer Peter Hicks will present an angular, dark world with fixtures made of useless firepower weapons and industrial trash, and Brenda Van Der Wiel's costume designs will display the characters' wild, punkish side.

Other members of the creative team include Phil Monat (lighting), Richelle Thompson (sound), Susan Willis (dramturg) and Whitney Keeter (stage manager).

The Alabama Shakespeare Festival's box office is located at 1 Festival Drive in the heart of Montgomery's Blount Cultural Park. For more information and tickets, call (800) 841-4273 or visit ASF.net.
