Apple Tree Theatre in Highland Park, IL, is substituting Grace and Glorie by Tom Ziegler for Stephen Sondheim's Passion as the fourth play in the current season. Actress Susan Moniz had to drop out of Passion (she would have been the homely, yearning Fosca) due to being pregnant. Apple Tree decided not to re-cast but elected to do Grace and Glorie. Eileen Boevers, Apple Tree's artistic director, will direct.

The comedy-drama was originally produced in 1996 at the Laura Pels Theater in New York City, with Estelle Parsons and Lucie Arnaz. Bonnie Franklin also appeared in that run.

Grace and Glorie, about a cantankerous but ailing old lady in a remote village forced to endure the ministrations of a good samaritan, runs April 5-May 7. Casting is not yet set.
