The Intiman has released initial details on its season, which will begin with Marilyn Campbell and Curt Columbus' adaptation of Crime and Punishment. Intiman associate director Sheila Daniels, who staged A Streetcar Named Desire last summer, will direct the three-person adaptation of Dostoyevsky's work.

Following will be Herb Gardner's A Thousand Clowns. The 1963 Tony-winner for Best Play centers on an eccentric man who must swallow his pride and return to work in order to raise his 12-year-old nephew in a cluttered Manhattan apartment.

Joan Didion's intimate account of loss, The Year of Magical Thinking, is also on the bill for the Intiman. Based on her award-winning memoir of the same title, Didion recounts the year following the death of her husband, John Gregory Dunne, and the subsequent loss of their daughter, Quintana.

Yet to be revealed on the Intiman bill are a musical or Shakespeare work, that will be directed by the Intiman's Tony Award-winning artistic director Bartlet Sher. The second annual American Cycle work, represented in 2008 with All the King's Men, will be announced shortly.
