When How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying opens at the Takarazuka Theatre in Tokyo Nov. 2, the choreography will look familiar, even though the dancers will look significantly different.

Wayne Cilento, who choreographed H2S on Broadway, is also staging the dances in Tokyo, but this time all the cast-members are female -- all 87 of them. Forty actresses are on stage for the "Coffee Break" number alone (compared to 13 performers in NY).

The production is performed entirely in Japanese. Despite the all-female cast, the contents of Loesser's lyrics and book have been kept as is. Frank Loesser's widow, Jo Sullivan Loesser, is scheduled to attend the opening night.

This production of How To Succeed, directed by Sumio Sakai, runs to Nov. 28. Meanwhile, Takarazuka will also be staging On A Clear Day You Can Se Forever at the Takarazuka Bow Hall in their home city of -- you guessed it -- Takarazuka. The dates for Day are Nov. 2-Nov. 12.

This information comes to Playbill On-Line courtesy of reader Koji Aoshika, copyright agent of Broadway musicals in Japan, as a sole Asian representative for Music Theatre International in New York. Tickets for the month-long upcoming engagement of H2S (which played in Takarazuka before coming to Tokyo) sold out in one day.
