Classic Arts News Jazz at Lincoln Center Stages Free 'Jazz Battle' April 16 Jazz at Lincoln Center will present a "jazz battle" on April 16 at Dizzy's Club Coca-Cola, JALC announced.
The battle will consist a series of one-on-one musical confrontations. Veteran New Orleans trumpeter Irwin Mayfield will take on the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra's Jeremy Pelt. LCJO multi-instrumentalist Ted Nash will face off with Anne Drummond, a member of Kenny Barron's quintet, on flute. The LCJO's Victor Goines will duel with a yet-to-be named saxophonist.

The event is free on a first-come, first-served basis. Audience members are encouraged to line up early for each of the three rounds, which begin at 1 p.m, 2 p.m., and 3 p.m.
