News Jeff Blumenkrantz Will Debut Month Upon a Time Song Cycle at 54 Below With Julia Murney, Kenita Miller and More Tony Award-nominated composer and actor Jeff Blumenkrantz, who most recently starred in Off-Broadway's Murder For Two, will present the world-premiere performance of his song cycle Month Upon a Time Feb. 12 at 54 Below.

Month Upon a Time, scheduled to start at 9:30 PM, will features 12 songs — each related to a different month of the year — and include performances from Blumenkrantz and special guests Michael McElroy (Violet, Big River), Kenita Miller (The Color Purple, Xanadu), Julia Murney (The Wild Party, Wicked) and Kate Wetherhead ("Submissions Only," Ordinary Days).

Tedd Firth will lead a five-piece band, and orchestrations are by Josh Freilich.

According to press notes, song subjects range from "Burning Man (August) to Wedding Season (June) to New Year's Resolutions (January) to Taxes (April) [and are] equal parts comedic, dramatic and poignant."

Blumenkrantz received a Tony nomination as one of the co-writers of the score of Urban Cowboy. He is the recipient of the 2011 Fred Ebb Award as well as commissions from both Carnegie Hall and Guggenheim Works and Process. His songs have been recorded by Audra McDonald, Sutton Foster, Rebecca Luker and Victoria Clark, among others. As an actor, Blumenkrantz will play The Beadle in the upcoming NY Philharmonic concert of Sweeney Todd. He has also performed on Broadway in Into the Woods, Threepenny Opera, Damn Yankees, How to Succeed… and A Class Act.
