The limited five-show engagement is a fundraiser for the not-for-profit theatre company, which is devoted to contemporary and premiere works, including plays by Michigan and Midwestern writers. The performances occur during a summer hiatus of the Broadway hit God of Carnage; the play by Yasmina Reza took a break after the July 26 performance at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre and resumes there Sept. 8.

Daniels (executive director and PRTC founder) will appear in his first-ever summer Onstage & Unplugged event on the PRTC stage. The show has been popular with audiences during the winter holiday season since 2001. The ongoing popularity of the event led Daniels to begin booking performances nationally in 2006, and he continues to make appearances across the country. A prolific songwriter as well as playwright, "Daniels performs solo with blues guitar and an arsenal of songs that are alternately humorous and poignant."

Sales of Daniels' critically acclaimed albums — many recorded during past PRTC performances — benefit The Purple Rose Theatre Company and are available for sale at the PRTC Box Office or at www.jeffdaniels.com.

The production team for Onstage & Unplugged includes Dana Gamarra as stage manager and Gary Ciarkowski as lighting designer and audio engineer.

For more information call the PRTC box office at (734) 433-ROSE (7673).

Tickets are also available for purchase at www.purplerosetheatre.org.
