The interview included a discussion of the mercury poisoning that led to Piven's early departure from the 2008 Broadway run of David Mamet's Speed-the-Plow.


Piven says he had high levels of mercury in his system from the beginning of the show’s run but went on until he was unable to continue. He also discusses his reaction to the resulting controversy and the questions about his viability as a stage actor and whether he was living the celebrity high life while claiming to be ill.

Piven holds three Emmys and a Golden Globe for his work as Ari Gold on the HBO series “Entourage.” He also discusses the series’ possible impending end and even raps and sings a snippet of “Tomorrow” in the interview, which can be seen below:
