As previously reported, Brían F. O'Byrne (Frozen, The Coast of Utopia, Doubt, The Beauty Queen of Leenane) and Sarah Bolger will star in the pilot, which is written by KJ Steinberg. Steinberg and Shonda Rhimes executive produce.
"Gilded Lilys" is set in 1895 and is described as "an epic love story, a vicious rivalry and a scandalous secret unfolded against the backdrop of the opening of New York's first luxury hotel." The drama centers on Edwin Lily (O’Byrne), who tries to revive his family's fortunes by opening the most lavish hotel in history. Barrowman will play playboy brother Julius Lily.
Barrowman has been seen on Broadway in Putting It Together and Sunset Boulevard. His film and television credits include "The Producers," "Torchwood" and "Desperate Housewives," among others.
