Written by Kelly Marcel, "Mr. Banks" tells the story of how Walt Disney convinced Australian author P.L. Travers to make a movie version of her classic novel "Mary Poppins."
Oscar winners Tom Hanks and Meryl Streep are rumored to play Disney and Travers, respectively. Disney intends to begin production on "Saving Mr. Banks" this year.
The 1964 movie musical, which received five Academy Awards, starred Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke. The stage adaptation continues to run at Broadway's New Amsterdam Theatre.
