News Jones' Emancipation to Inhabit Audubon Ballroom April 10 Obie Award winner Ty Jones will appear in his work Emancipation for the Classical Theatre of Harlem, beginning April 10.

Classical Theatre company member Ty Jones (Broadway's Julius Caesar, Henry IV) – known for his film roles in "The International," "Heaven's Fall" and television's "Rescue Me" – has penned the drama centering on the 1931 slave rebellion led by Nat Turner.

Classical Theatre of Harlem will stage Emancipation at the Audubon Ballroom. The Audubon Ballroom holds significance not only for being the location where Malcom X gave numerous speeches, but it also marks the site of his assassination. The Audubon Ballroom now houses The Malcolm X and Dr. Betty Shabazz Memorial and Educational Center.

Developed in the Classical Theatre of Harlem's Future Classics program, Emancipation will also feature Sean Patrick Reilly, Stephen Conrad Moore, Happy Anderson, Jenny Bennett, Gisela Chipe, Michael E. Cummings, James Jorsling, Jason Podplesky, Angela D. Polite, Wayne Pyle, James Singletary and Lelund Durond Thompson.

Emancipation is directed by Christopher McElroen and includes a design team of Troy Hourie (set design), Aaron Black (lighting design), Aaron Rhyne (projection design) and Kimberly Glennon (costume design).

Emancipation begins previews April 10 and will officially open April 17. The limited engagement continues through May 3.
