News   Joseph Mahowald Joins Cast of Off-Broadway's Lone Star Love
Joseph Mahowald has joined the cast of Lone Star Love, the musical comedy which takes William Shakespeare's Merry Wives of Windsor and sets it in post-Civil War Texas, at the John Houseman Theatre.

Mahowald will play Frank Ford, replacing departing Gary Sandy. He begins on Jan. 21. His Broadway credits include Les Miz and Jekyll and Hyde, in which he played the title roles.

The show opened on Dec. 8, after previews from Nov. 23.

Jay O. Sanders plays the central role of Falstaff. Harriett Foy is Miss Quickly, Dan Sharkey is Mr. George Page and Kevin Bernard plays Lucas. The roles of Mrs. Margaret Ann Page and Consuela are portrayed by Stacia Fernandez and Stacey Harris, respectively. Shane Braddock is Rugby.

Also in the cast are Beth Leavel as Aggie Ford, Clarke Thorell as Fenton, Peter Connelly as Chester, Drew McVety as Doctor Caius, Nick Sullivan as Sheriff Bob Shallow, Julie Tolivar as Miss Anne Page, Brandon Williams as Abraham Slender and Dana Zihlman as Ruby. In addition, the Red Clay Ramblers will appear as Falstaff's entourage: Clay Buckner as Nym,Chris Frank as Bardolph and Jack Herrick as Pistol. Gary Bristol, Emily Mikesell and David Longworth are also in the band

The show is directed by Michael Bogdanov. Randy Skinner is choreographer. Lone Star Love is presented by Amas Musical Theater. Lone Star Love was conceived and adapted from the Bard by librettist John L. Haber. It has music and lyrics by Tony winner (and Red Clay Rambers alumnus) Jack Herrick (Fool Moon, Kudzu). The production has contributions from Bland Simpson, Tommy Thompson and director Michael Bogdanov, who has been with the project since helming two developmental NYC workshops — backed by the Dodgers and the Kennedy Center — in 1996 and 1999.
