News July 6 Performance of Toxic Avenger Canceled The July 6 performance of the Off-Broadway musical The Toxic Avenger has been canceled due to the injury of Nick Cordero, who stars in the title role.

"Superheroes are not infallible it seems, as The Toxic Avenger sustained an injury that caused two performances (July 5 at 7 PM and tonight's performance, July 6 at 8 PM) to be cancelled," according to a July 6 press statement. "In an ironic twist, The Toxic Avenger was the victim when an audience member decided to use the stage as their own personal storage facility. Toxie suffered a torn leg, but is expected to make a full recovery."

The production, with Cordero in the title role, will resume performances Wednesday, July 8 at New World Stages (the show is normally dark Tuesday nights).

Nicholas Rodriguez usually covers the male roles in Toxic Avenger, but he is currently playing Demond Green's roles while Green plays Judas/John the Baptist in the St. Louis Muny production of Godspell.

Based on the 1985 classic cult film from Troma Studios, The Toxic Avenger features music and lyrics by David Bryan, book and lyrics by Joe DiPietro and direction by Tony Award winner John Rando. The cast also includes Celina Carvajal, Nick Cordero, Matthew Saldivar and Nancy Opel.
