Following previous engagements at Joe's Pub and the Spiegeltent at South Street Seaport, the latest edition of Weimar New York will offer its signature blend of performance art, music and burlesque with an eye on election-year politics.

The line-up of talent includes Penny Arcade, Daniel Isengart, Taylor Mac, Tigger!, Tangerine Jones, The Pixie Harlots and Novice Theory for "an evening that spans the gamut from the trenchant observations of legendary performance artist Penny Arcade to the sophisticated stylings of German cabaret performer Daniel Isengart," according to the Joe's Pub website. "The mischievous Pixie Harlots provide a dose of gender-bending glamour, and with great pleasure we welcome the prodigiously talented Novice Theory to the community of Weimar New York artists."

The creative mission of Weimar New York is to juxtapose "the aesthetic and music of Weimar-era Berlin with that of the contemporary downtown performance scene in New York. Weimar New York also spotlights the uneasy parallels between the rise of fascistic and nationalistic elements in Weimar Germany and the unprecedented growth of reactionary policies and religious extremism today. The evening celebrates the spirit of creative resistance that thrives in response to conservative political forces be they the rising tides of Nazism in Weimar Germany or fundamentalist Christianity taking root in the contemporary United States."

Weimar New York will also head west in February, with dates scheduled at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art on Feb. 13 and 14, 2008.

A portion of the tickets sales from the Joe's Pub performance of Weimar New York will be donated to the national media watch group Fairness and Accuracy in Reporting (FAIR). Weimar New York begins at 11:30 PM. For tickets, priced $35, call (212) 967-7555 or visit www.joespub.com. For more information visit www.weimarnewyork.com.

Joe's Pub is located within the Public Theater at 425 Lafayette Street.
