Due to a sprained ankle suffered in performance Oct. 4, Justin Kirk sat out Oct. 5-8 performances of The World Over, the Playwrights Horizons season opener at The Duke on 42nd Street. At last Friday's performance of the quirky, picaresque play by Keith Bunin, understudy Brian Sgambati stepped into Act Two after the Act One sprain of Kirk. In the lead role of a man who travels the world to claim his birthright, Sgambati played subsequent performances, though Kirk, remembered for Love! Valour! Compassion!, is expected to return to the Off-Broadway production Oct. 9. The world premiere staging continues to Oct. 13.
