The play about a prodigal son who returns home to Cincinnati had its world premiere last winter at the Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park. Tony Award winner Jack O'Brien (The Coast of Utopia, Hairspray) will direct the Broadway production of the five-actor play.

Dead Accounts is produced by Jeffrey Finn, who recently produced Rebeck's Seminar on Broadway and is also among the producers of the new musical Scandalous, which will begin Broadway previews in October.

Dates of production and additional casting will be announced shortly.

Holmes ("Dawson's Creek," "Pieces of April," "The Ice Storm") will portray Lorna, who has a few questions regarding her brother's return home. Holmes has been making headlines of late, having recently relocated to New York after seeking a divorce from her husband, Tom Cruise.

Here's how the play is billed: "Jack's unexpected return throws his family into a frenzy, and his sister Lorna needs answers. Is he coming home or running away? Where is his wife everyone hates? And how did he get all that money? Theresa Rebeck’s new comedy tackles the timely issues of corporate greed, small town values, and whether or not your family will always welcome you back… with no questions asked."

Rebeck was a Pulitzer Prize finalist as the co-author of Omnium Gatherum. Her plays also include Bad Dates, The Scene and The Understudy and more. She has also authored the feature films "Harriet the Spy" and "Gossip," and earned a Peabody Award for "NYPD Blue." She is the creator of the NBC musical series "Smash."
