The Brain From Planet X "tells the story of an alien invasion circa 1958," according to production notes. "A Brain and its two alien cohorts, Zubrick and Yoni, arrive on Earth and plan to take over the San Fernando Valley — starting with the happy nuclear family, the Bunsons. It's the first step on the road to their quest of taking over the entire planet and to destroying the family unit." Kimmel provided music and lyrics for the production, with a book penned by David Wechter. The two previously collaborated on the screenplay for the hit film "The Faculty." Kimmel is known to the Broadway community for the Grammy Award-nominated revival cast recording of Hello, Dolly! as well as the "Lost in Boston" and "Unsung Musicals" series.

The Brain From Planet X cast includes Benjamin Clark, Merrill Grant, Chad Harlow, Joe Jackson, Naomi Kakuk, Steve Luker, Cason Murphy, Denise Payne, Barry Pearl and Alet Taylor, Erin Webley, Steve Wenslawski.

The creative team will include musical direction by Larry Goldberg, orchestrations by Larry Moore, choreography by Adam Cates, set design by Heather Wolensky and sound design by Sara Even.

The Brain From Planet X received its world premiere in Los Angeles in December 2006. The cast album is currently available on the Kritzerland label.
