Presented as part of the Human Race Theatre Company's Festival of New Musicals, the staging of The Consequences will be directed by Shawn Hooks Aug. 4 and Aug. 6 at Courthouse Square.

Kyle Jarrow (Whisper House, A Very Merry Unauthorized Children's Scientology Pageant) authored the book to The Consequences and co-authored music and lyrics with Nathan Leigh. The two also wrote the musical Big Money.

The Consequences will feature JJ Parkey, Amy Geist and Alex Carmichal. Lindsay Sherman will musical direct, with sound design by Mark Liames and lighting design by Brian Cox.

According to the authors, "The Consequences is a bittersweet love story about high school friends who meet again ten years later - and begin to examine the way their lives have changed through each other’s eyes."

Encore Theater Co. previously staged a reading of The Consequences in 2010. In addition to its New York readings, the musical has been developed at the Williamstown Theatre Festival, Wellfleet Harbor Actors Theatre and the New York Theatre Workshop.

As previously reported by Playbill.com, the Festival of New Musicals will also develop Love Makes The World Go 'Round, a new musical revue based on the work of Broadway composer-lyricist Bob Merrill, as well as a stage adaptation of the film "Pump Up the Volume" and the jazz-inflected work Play It Cool.

Tickets, priced $10, are available at the door. Visit EncoreTheatreCompany.
