The Groundlings, LA's famous comedy theatre troupe, recently changed the name of it's mainstage comedy show, from Groundlings: Chains Required to the seasonal title, No Shirts, No Shoes, No Groundlings.
This year, the show will change titles each season. Upcoming at the Groundling Theatre is the autumn revue I'm Not Just the President, I'm Also a Groundling (Oct.), and winter's Days of Wine and Groundlings (Feb).
No Shirts, No Shoes, No Groundlings runs Fri-Sat 8 PM; and Sat 10 PM. Season subscriptions are available, and individual tickets are $17.50. For tickets and information about other shows at the Groundling Theatre in West Hollywood, call (213) 934-9700.
While the Mark Taper Forum is enjoying it's run of John Patrick Shanley's Psychopathia Sexualis, it's preparing for a change. The new adaptation of Marivaux' comedy Changes of Heart by Stephen Wadsworth, begins previews July 14, and runs through Sept. 1.
Wadsworth, who also adapted Marivaux' The Triumph of Love last season at Berkeley Rep and Goldini's Mirandolina at San Jose Rep, keeps Marivaux' wisdom and insight flowing through the farce as he brings a twentieth century sensibility to the classic productions. Tickets are $22-35.50, and can be purchased by calling (213) 972-0700.
