The cast of the Los Angeles production of Show Boat will be celebrating more than New Year's following Tuesday evening's show. After the curtain goes down on 1996's final performance of the Kern/Hammerstein musical, two of its stars will be married.

In a private ceremony, Teri Hansen, who stars as Magnolia, will exchange vows with Kip Wilborn, the production's Steve. Wilborn has also understudied the role of Gaylord Ravenal a number of times, allowing him to romance his Magnolia on stage as well as off.

One of the show's major plot points is the marriage of Gaylord and Magnolia -- the two stars of the show boat's show.

At the real wedding Tuesday night, two boys and two girls in the cast will serve as ring bearers and flower girls, respectively. Also participating in the nuptuals will be the production's canine cast member.

Hansen and Wilborn have previously performed in a German production of Street Scene that was presented in the US. Show Boat, directed by Hal Prince, is scheduled to play at Los Angeles' Ahmanson Theatre through April 5, 1997.
