Los Angeles' Reprise! series, now in its sixth season of reviving classic Broadway musicals with starry concert casts, has announced its next four musicals — Stephen Sondheim's Follies, Cole Porter's Anything Goes, Cy Coleman, Betty Comden and Adolph Green's On the Twentieth Century and Robert Wright and George Forrest's Kismet.
Follies was previously announced for a 10 performance summer slot, June 15-23 in the Wadsworth Theatre. Arthur Allan Seidelman (Six Dance Lessons in Six Weeks) will direct the intense Sondheim musical, set in a decaying Broadway theatre where legendary performers gather together to reflect on their lives, careers and losses. Follies was revived on Broadway by the Roundabout Theatre in the 2001 season.
Casting for the Reprise! Follies has not yet been announced.
Anything Goes plays Sept. 17-29. On the Twentieth Century, celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2003, plays Jan. 21-Feb. 2, 2003, with David Lee (Pasadena Playhouse's Do I Hear a Waltz?) directing. Seidelman will also direct the 50-year-old Kismet, performing March 18-30, 2003.
Single tickets to Follies are available by calling (213) 365-3500. Single tickets to Anything Goes, On the Twentieth Century and Kismet will be available after June 15 at (213) 825-5101. — By Christine Ehren
