News LaBute's "Autobahn" Hits Bookstores Jan. 2005 Neil LaBute's "Autobahn: A Short Play Cycle" will arrive in bookstores Jan. 3, 2005.

Faber and Faber, Inc., an affiliate of Farrar, Straus and Giroux, will publish the paperback tome, which features seven brief vignettes set within the front-seat of a car. The titles comprising "Autobahn" include "Funny," "Bench Seat," "All Apologies," "Merge," "Long Division," "Road Trip" and "Autobahn." Autobahn premiered as a one-night-only benefit for MCC Theatre March 8, 2004. The starry cast included Susan Sarandon, Brian Dennehy, Kevin Bacon, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Paul Rudd, Amanda Peet and Kyra Sedgwick. Playwright LaBute, currently represented Off-Broadway with Fat Pig, is known for his gritty dramas, which include The Mercy Seat, The Shape of Things and bash: latter-day plays. His film works include "In the Company of Men," "Your Friends and Neighbors" and "Nurse Betty."

The 94-page book has a list price of $13. The book, dedicated to Wallace Shawn, features an introduction by playwright LaBute.
