The L.A.-based company will present Dee Jae Cox's play The Rape of Djuna Barnes Jan. 29-March 7, 1999. Hope Alexander will direct. Barnes was a leading literary figure in New York's Bohemia scene during the '20s and '30s. Beginning as a journalist profiling the famous figures of her day, she graduated to writing poems, plays and novels. She is best known for her novel, "Nightwood." In later years, Barnes became a near recluse, rarely coming out of her Greenwich Village home and refusing all interviews.

The Rape of Djana Barnes will be presented at the St. Genesius Theatre. For information, call (323) 929-4967.
