Last Chance to catch Renee Taylor and Joe Bologna celebrating 33 years of marriage in comedy with their play, If You Ever Leave Me...I'm Going With You!. The show opened March 13 (after previews March 6) at the Canon Theatre in Beverly Hills and ends its scheduled run Monday, April 26.
The husband-and-wife team have written and co-directed the show, in which they also star. It has previously been produced at a few regional theaters after having been briefly workshopped in L.A. two years ago. It is likely to travel to other regional venues as well.
The comedy covers the couple's romantic courtship, their first wedding reception on the Merv Griffin Show, their five marriage ceremonies, and the "near spouse-icides of the three decades of professional collaboration," said a company spokesperson. As such, it includes scenes from the couple's last duet, the Off-Broadway hit, Bermuda Avenue Triangle, as well as It Had To Be You and their best-known pairing, Lovers and Other Strangers.
Bologna has been especially busy these days; he's directed the comedy King Levine, reopening May 1 at the Tiffany Theater.
Performances are at the Canon Theatre, 205 N. Canon Drive. Call (310) 859-2830 or Ticketmaster (213) 365-3500 for information. Next up at the Canon will be Ruby Dee's solo, My One Good Nerve, May 20-July 4.
