The Model Apartment (Off-Broadway at 59E59 Theaters). Mark Blum, Diane Davis, Kathryn Grody and Hubert Point-Du Jour appear in Primary Stages' revival of Donald Margulies' 1995 black comedy The Model Apartment, directed by Evan Cabnet. According to Primary Stages, "When Max and Lola, two Holocaust survivors from Brooklyn, retire to Florida, they find their new condo unfinished and are forced to spend the night in a 'model apartment' where things are not always as they seem. In this brilliant and bizarre Drama Desk-nominated black comedy, Max and Lola soon realize that if they ever want to truly 'retire,' they must first confront the demons of their past." Concluding Nov. 3

The Seagull (Off-Broadway at the Lynn Redgrave Theater at the Culture Project). Culture Project's production of Anton Chekhov's The Seagull, featuring an adaptation by Thomas Kilroy, is directed by Max Stafford Clark and features Trudie Styler, Rufus Collins, Alan Cox, Stella Feehily, Slate Holmgren, Rachel Spencer Hewitt, Ryan David O'Byrne, Amanda Quaid, Tim Ruddy and Kenneth Ryan. Kilroy's version of The Seagull, press notes state, is a "reappraisal of Chekhov's first great comedy, a story of a distinguished actress and her passionate lonely son.… Set in late 19th century Ireland during the time of the National Land League, a political movement advocating for poor tenant farmers, Thomas Kilroy unearths fascinating parallels to the shifts in Russian society that inform Chekhov’s original. This acclaimed adaptation illuminates the play's universal themes while revealing new social and political angles." Visit CultureProject.org.
