News Last Flight Out: West End Miss Saigon Closing; Plans for Germany, Australia and Broadway Next The West End revival of Miss Saigon has announced it will close next February, with plans afoot for productions around the world, including Broadway.

The current production at the Prince Edward Theatre where it opened May 2014, is to shutter Feb. 27, 2016 after a run of less than two years. Nevertheless the revival recouped its entire £4.5 million investment within its first month of performances.

The original production at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane, by contrast, ran from 1989 for a record-breaking decade to 1999, closing after a run of over 4,000 performances. The original Broadway production opened March 23, 1991 and ran 4092 performances.



In a press statement, producer Cameron Mackintosh said, "I'm delighted to announce a final extension of my hugely successful new production of Miss Saigon at the Prince Edward Theatre. This record-breaking and award-winning production is already repeating its success in Japan and Korea and is planned to open in Germany, Australia and Broadway in the next two years. Our original stars Eva Noblezada and Jon Jon Briones continue to lead our wonderful international cast that has made this epic love story one of the greatest contemporary musicals of all time."

The current West End company also features Chris Peluso, Siobhan Dillon, Hugh Maynard, Sangwoong Jo and Natalie Mendoza.
