Last Minute Productions is presenting an evening of two one-act plays, Saloon, at NY's House of Candles, Mar. 19-29.
Saloon is comprised of two one-act plays: Under the Table adapted by Simon Hammerstein from Gogol's novel The Gamblers, and Molly's Dream by Maria Irene Fornes, directed by Daniel Aukin.
Under the Table, also directed by Hammerstein, relocates Gogol's The Gamblers, to an early 1900's frontier setting, where the already suspicious card-players gain new motives in an already twisted tale of deceit.
Molly's Dream by seven-time Obie winner Fornes is a musical dreamscape that unfolds when a saloon waitress falls asleep on the job. The cast of characters' bizarre identities are shaped by American icons like Shirley Temple, James Dean, Marlene Dietrich, John Wayne and Dracula.
Saloon runs from Mar. 19-29, at the House of Candles. For more information or reservations call (212) 479-7300. -- By Sean McGrath
