PlayBlog Laura Bell Bundy Discusses Her Journey from Broadway to Country (Video) Tony Award nominee turned country-music breakout star Laura Bell Bundy recently sat down with the Associated Press for a video interview to discuss her journey from the world of Broadway musicals to the stages of Nashville.

Bundy says she has been writing country music since her teenage years and even performed in a country band around New York while doing early acting gigs. She compares balancing her country songwriter side and her acting side to “having two different baskets with eggs in them;” the acting “eggs” “hatched first and the [country music eggs] were slow to incubate.”

Bundy was Tony-nominated for her work as Elle Woods in Legally Blonde. Other stage credits include Wicked, Hairspray and Ruthless!. Screen credits include “Dreamgirls,” “Jumanji,” “Strangers with Candy,” “Life with Mikey,” “The Adventures of Huck Finn,” “Guiding Light” and “Home Improvement.”

The video also features clips from the music video for Bundy’s new single, “Giddy on Up.” The album that features the song, “Achin’ and Shakin’,” was released April 13.
